A Goon is a being who melts into the foreground and sticks there. Nobody notices him, not really. But when a Goon comes to stay with the Syldav family, things begin to change. He settles in, takes over the spare room, and eats them out of house and home. He's waiting for something—or someone. Ker Syldav has always assumed his father was a baker. His mother claims she's a writer. But his younger sister Fifi knows better. She's been doing some detective work, and she's discovered that neither parent does what they claim. Their real jobs are a mystery—one that involves the mysterious Goon, a pair of powerful wizards, and the fate of an entire city. With Fifi as his reluctant partner, Ker sets out to discover the truth. But nothing is quite as it seems in this family. And the closer they get to the answers, the stranger everything becomes.
