Our Lady of the Nile is set in a girls' boarding school in the mountains of Rwanda, in the years just before the country's descent into genocide. Through the intertwined lives and voices of the students, we see a community on the brink, where ethnic tensions simmer beneath the surface of daily life, and where the girls—bright, funny, and fully alive—are caught between innocence and the terrible knowledge of what is to come.
