State of Wonder won the PEN/Faulkner Award and was a New York Times bestseller. Dr. Eckman, a brilliant researcher, has disappeared in the Amazon. It is up to Marina Singh, a pharmaceutical researcher, to find him. Dispatched on a rescue mission into the world's most dangerous jungle, Marina is eventually brought to an exclusive, mysterious compound deep in the rainforest. There she finds a world unlike anything she has ever imagined. At the center of this world is Dr. Annick Swenson, a woman of startling ambition and intensity. Swenson is pursuing a research project that will reshape our understanding of the human experience, and she is determined to see it through to the end. As Marina becomes more deeply involved in the research, she must confront the ramifications of Swenson's work.
