Open Secrets: Stories
#3011 of 8,085 books · #1436 in Fiction
Shortlisted for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction (1995).
With an introduction by Jane Urquhart, this is a remarkable collection of eight stories set in Ontario, Australia, Europe; in dangerous mountains, forbidding wilderness, familiar towns. Things that cannot be explained happen here and yet all seems inevitable, deeply credible and always profoundly true to the human heart.
