Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town is the story of a man who is the sum of his dreams. He awakes in a ravine with no idea of who or what he is, possessed of a body that is a strange fact of nature and a mind full of memories that aren't quite his own. He finds himself in Toronto, a city he knows instinctively, though he's never been there before. There he encounters a young man who is a sentient, networked collection of mobile devices. Their relationship unfolds in this city that is at once strange and familiar, where the boundaries between the real and the dreamed, the possible and the impossible, begin to blur. As the story progresses, the protagonist discovers that there are others like him, each carrying their own impossible nature. A string of mystery and danger follows as he is drawn into a realm where the normal rules of existence don't apply, where magic, science, and the power of the mind intertwine. This is a book about identity, about the nature of consciousness and existence, about the way we are shaped by our memories and our dreams. It's about what it means to be human in a world where the boundaries of humanity are constantly being redrawn.
