The Club Dumas
Lucas Corso is an antiquarian book dealer and investigator known for doing whatever it takes to satisfy his wealthy clients. A client asks him to authenticate a manuscript purportedly written by Alexandre Dumas, author of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers. The investigation leads Corso toward a legendary occultist book said to contain instructions for summoning Satan - and toward the discovery that three copies of the book exist, only one of them genuine. As his search takes him from Madrid to Portugal to Paris, Corso encounters devil worshippers, obsessed book collectors, and a hypnotically appealing femme fatale, and a straightforward authentication job spirals into a bewildering tangle of literary gamesmanship and real danger.
